A space for you, just as you are
About me
Hello, I'm Nina. I chose to become a therapist because I believe that we all have a built in capacity to grow and heal, and sometimes we just need some support to help us reconnect with our inner strength. I have genuine care for people and an understanding that life can be really challenging sometimes. We can all experience difficulties, setbacks, and periods of uncertainty, and in this role, I have the honour of walking alongside people, to support them through these times, and witnessing them reconnect with their inner resilience.
I am currently working with Sheffield Mind as part of their Revive counselling service, alongside my private practice.
I have current ongoing experience working with people affected by domestic abuse in an additional job role.
Before starting my counselling journey, I have had experience working in the Criminal Justice sector, in a support work role.

Do you want a space to talk through things with someone who will listen with care and without judgement? Therapy can offer you a space for growth, reflection, support and understanding. Maybe life is feeling overwhelming or a lot for you right now, or you are dealing with frequent anxiety or low mood. Perhaps you are working through past experiences, feeling stuck in your current situation, or looking for a deeper sense of meaning or connection. Whatever you are going through, speaking with someone outside of your usual circles can be really helpful.
My counselling approach is Person-Centred at the core, whilst incorporating any relevant approaches from other modalities that I have learnt along the way. Sessions are predominantly non-directive and your therapy will be guided around what is most useful for you to explore, and focused around what you want to get out of the sessions. I place importance on ensuring you feel safe enough during our sessions, and so I may introduce regulation techniques if this feels useful to you.
I may ask you questions during our sessions to help clarify or gently explore things with you, not to push or probe, but to help you to understand yourself on a deeper level, and for you to make sense of your experiences. I also work with an awareness of the mind-body connection, and sometimes our emotions may show up physically, through tension, tightness, or certain sensations, which may link back to past experiences. If it feels right for you, we can explore where feelings may be felt in the body, and gently build self-awareness and coping techniques that can support your healing.
Therapy is personal to each individual, and during this process, some people may gain increased self-awareness, motivation, self-belief, or a reduction in unhelpful thinking patterns.
People come to me for help with a wide range of struggles. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:

Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
